Well what started off with a little procrastination about riding and potentially getting in a storm turned out not so bad after all.
With about 20 riders over the 100, 200, 300 and 400km distance we set off from Yeronga as usually for the Medley. Some stayed together till the first control at Yamanto from there we went to Peak Crossing where I was riding on my own for the next 220km. Time enough to reflect during the ride. Wind was still in my favour with a nice push in the back but this wouldn’t last all day, from Boonah onwards it started with a crosswind and once over Mt Alford the headwind wasn’t making it easy. Head down and controlling the HR for the run into Kalbar, a quick lunch and onto Rosewood, via Peak Crossing, Coleyville and Mount Walker. Dark sky’s in front of me but the NNE wind blew the storm away from me, only got a light drizzle, when I arrived at Rosewood I noticed how bad the storm had been, golfball size hail smashed through windows of houses and cars, and more rain coming I waited it out for 50 min. Once the front had passed the sun came out, the wind went down and I could continue the ride back to Brisbane via Walloon, Karrabin, Ipswich, Wacol and along the Centenary bike path to Indooroopilly where I noticed Scooby and the gang , no not hallucinating. Finishing off the ride via with Part of the Riverloop to Yeronga, thanks to Anthony for the beer and back on the bike to ride home.
