Ride Report

The Mini Alpine

Audax Theme
Today was the 2026 iteration of the Mini Alpine ride – 100 kms, vm 2225 … short and sharp as they say. As a training ride for the Alpine Classic, it certainly lives up to its name. There is a lot of climbing; thankfully through beautiful countryside, esp Belair National Park.
Also the weather was on our side, with temps early on in the mid-late 20s, but it certainly started to warm up round midday, so lathering up again at the control in Stirling made good sense.
10 riders registered, living up to it’s 5 yearly average. Always a popular ride: picturesque up in the Adelaide Hills, close to the city and you’re usually home by lunchtime. We welcomed some special guests today: Louise Stiller from NSW, Mark Wilkinson from Tassie & Imad Birkholz from Singapore. Great to have them along.
Once again a big thank you to Elbert Brooks for tweaking the route, which now heads to Mt Lofty 3 ways: Greenhill, Belair and Ashton.
It’s a great ride!
The next rides on the Audax SA calendar are the Bakery Run (150) on 14 Feb and Div’s night ride, The Bootlegger (120, 200, 300, 400) on 6 March. If you haven’t done a night ride, it should be on your To Do list, as it’s a magical experience. Here’s the link to the events calendar https://audax.org.au/ride/event-register/
