New Ride Organiser Simon Macklin’s inaugural Fearsome rides were held yesterday. We had 3 riders – Simon, Scott and James doing the 150. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/54470568

While Gather Round might have prevented some from registering, so to the weather, which looked sort of ok with BOM forecasting light rain and 15/16c in the areas we were riding.
For me it was unfinished business as Simon and I had done a recce a few weeks ago, where the temp (post Gawler) hit 38c. I took the soft option catching the train from Munno Para: Simon carried on.
Out to Gawler went pretty smoothly. While the bikeway isn’t that appealing it is efficient (notwithstanding intersections).

Reaching Gawler by 9.30 it was a brief stop before cracking on. The climb out of Gawler on the One Tree Hill Rd seemed to go on forever, after which there’s a bit of respite before climbing once again up to Kersbrook.
Simon had thrown in a little diversion out to Forreston, just so we could climb up the back of Checker Hill. Once we hit Gorge Rd it felt good to be back in familiar surroundings … notwithstanding the imminent climb up Corkscrew.
All in all a good day out, with quite unusual weather. Thankfully not too inclement. Thanks Simon.
