Shayne’s Ride Report
Saturday’s Midwinter Classic started with four riders: Darko, Kylie, Scott and me. We made our way from Norwood heading south to Meadows, using the quieter route through Prospect Hill.
One rider made a sensible call to loop back before committing to the longer run out through Meadows.
It’s a tough course that quietly builds on you: 157 km with roughly 2400 m of climbing.
The weather looked like it might behave at the start, but the rain arrived around Meadows and came down heavily for a while. Fortunately, we managed to shelter there for the worst of it, before riding through patchy rain on and off until around Mount Torrens.
There was also a short gravel section on the way to Prospect Hill, which left a fair bit of silt on the bikes; probably one to re-route in future editions of this ride.
Thanks to everyone who came out and shared a bit of an adventure.
Next up is the Barossa & Hills Ramble on Saturday 25 July 2026, run by James Litt, with 110, 152 and 200 km options.
