Audax: Nukinanda Flyer 166km, beauty and a tail of a beast.
What a great ride, def if you like a rewarding challenge, fantastic gravel roads, spectacular views, long climbs and fast downhills (and 1 a little tricky, as a motor rider found out the hard way, hope he’s ok).
Great to see some of the guys from the GC crew come out, some of them taken over the ๐ status ๐๐ช.
13 Riders left a chill Toogoolowah at 7.00am, but all felt warm very soon as climbing started straight away, first on the bitumen, then the gravel fun started, with some more climbing at first and some very nice quick descents all the way into Crows Nest, then some more fun a very nice gravel roads all the way to Blackbutt with some more climbing and great downhill sections and 1 tricky one, as a motorbike rider found out and had to be airlifted in the Lifeline helicopter hope he’s ok.
Once from Blackbutt the return to Toogoolowah normally a pleasant downhill and some nice open sections was a monster of a challenge due to a 25km headwind with 35-40km gusts ๐คฏ. Decently something to remember for next time ๐. But it was a free leg strengthening exercise after the already 2600 vert meters ๐๐ฅต.
