Saturday 16th August was Castlemania Road Rides 100 & 150. There were 6 doing the 100 & 4 doing the 150, I rode the 150k. Sensible 8am start, the sun was shining thank goodness as it was a little cold & the roads were wet early on. Straight out of the blocks the 2 groups went in different directions, After about 10ks I was at the back of the 150’s & stayed that way for the rest of the ride. The roads were very quiet and most enjoyable. Coming into Carisbrook saw 2 100k riders going the other way & same on the otherside of Carisbrook. Bit of a let down in Carisbrook as the bakery was closed. After going around a big reservoir I hit a descent headwind that lasted for about 15k until the turn to head towards Newstead, didn’t get 15k reward of tailwind but what I got was nice. Good stop & rest in Newstead before riding 40k back to Castlemaine via Maldon. Finished off ride strongly even though I was last, enjoyed the ride which is always the important part. Thanks to Luke Martin for organising.
