Yesterday was Audax SA’s The Bakery Run, a newish ride on the calendar, of 150kms and vm2000. With 7 riders last year we had 11 yesterday, with everyone completing the course in ideal conditions.
We welcomed Mark Saxon who thoroughly enjoyed the course and also welcomed back Marcus, Bronnie and Gerry; completing their 1st big ride for a while.
Heading to Clarendon via Belair was gorgeous as usual, then out to McLaren Vale via Blewitt Springs … so picturesque. At Willunga we stopped briefly before climbing Willunga Hill … where a headwind was not appreciated at all.
The 2nd 50 from Willunga to Meadows through Yundi, Nangkita and Ashbourne reminded us how little rain we’ve had (see photo). Gabby and Darko were the frontrunners (of course), with Elbert, Bronnie and Mark only about 10 mins behind them. Daryl, Marcus and I had a short break at the Ashbourne Hotel for pint of squash and a coke, before completing the 20 odd kms into Meadows and a slightly longer break. Sally and Gerry kept each other company and joined us at Meadows, finishing not too far behind us on Hutt St.
Scott once again showed up the stamina with which he achieves so much … well done mate.
