Audax SA Lazy Langhorne 100

Audax Theme
Today was Angus Netting’s Audax SA – Lazy Langhorne with 2 riders doing the 100. It was a glorious day for a ride, especially as some of the last few rides have been cancelled due to rain.
It’s quite bizarre was you come across while out on the bike. Bronnie and I were heading down Blythewood Rd (past Scotch) and heard something moving rather quickly on our LHS. Blow me down, it was a kangaroo sprinting down the footpath in a clearly distressed state. We don’t know where it headed off to …
Heading up Belair Rd is always fun, except when the route takes you all the way along Sheoak … where it hits 20% in some sections. Through Stirling and Aldgate then onto Old Mt Barker Rd and Rangeview before connecting with Greenhill and Deviation. With vm 1500 in the 1st half before Lobethal, it’s no wonder it took us 3 hours to do 52kms. We had a short rest stop at the bakery.
Kenton Valley Rd through to Gumeracha is beautiful at this time of year and we were back on Gorge Rd before we knew it. Angus kept the best til last, up Corkscrew … thank you mate! As you can see from the photo, the bike’s stance shows how I was feeling atop Corkscrew. However, from there it was all downhill: Montacute and Payneham to the OTR Stepney … home at 12.30pm.
All in all a lovely ride, thanks Angus … pity about the low numbers.
