Riders:
A big day in the saddle for all.
6am start, warm up the legs with a Settlement Rd, and ready for rolling roads most of the day, with a few flatter sections in between.
Always great to ride along the bayside for a quick water stop at Burpengary (first checkpoint), and other waters stop outside Woodford and onto the next checkpoint Esk, more rollers along the way and warmer conditions, front group first lost Joel and also Mark hooked off sometime later.
Brian Stinson and myself enjoyed some refreshing watermelon, fresh water and of to Gatton, mmmmm surprise it was to find the checkpoint (BP and that place that next to it) closed for renovations. A quick call to Brian Hornby to let the others know so they could take a stop somewhere else, and we went of to Coominya (maybe should have opted for a closer stop) in a headwind and with little water left. 🔥🔥🥵🥵.
Onto Fernvale for a sandwich and more fluids.
Next stop Yamanto, and from there onto Brisbane, with a headwind all the way.
Always great to finish with the first part of Mount Cootha and along the pinches in Bardon yep the legs can use some more torture after 390 km.
