Smiling for Smiddy Challenge
PBP is a challenge for all riders yet Vaughan Kippers has selected a different challenge this year by participating in the Smiling for Smiddy challenge which is undertaking a 1600km group ride from Townsville to Brisbane departing on August 23rd and arriving at Mater Hospital, Aubigny Place, Raymond Terrace, South Brisbane on August 31st at 3pm. Please welcome the riders as they arrive after the 9 days of riding.
You can read more of Vaughan’s story on his sponsorship page at http://www.fundraiseformater.org.au/VaughanKippers and feel free to donate to the cause.

Ride Reports
The riders in Far North Qted some great rides recently with “Oh No” and “The Boulders” You can read the ride reports for these two rides at http://www.longrides.bike/
Whilst we wait for the ride reports to come in from the southern region for our reading pleasure, Mark Harris and Vaughan Kippers have supplied some excellent photos.
6 Bumps and 1 Hill
Rathdowney Rumble
This year’s Rathdowney Rumble and Wonders of Woodenbong helped sponsor Vaughan in his Smiling for Smiddy Challenge. Mark Harris provided a few photos which makes me want to ride it next year.

Maintenance?
This last fortnight has me continuing on with my 11 tooth cog issue. My last shakedown ride seemed to be a little troublesome but with school runs, a chest cold and my significant other being in Hospital I have had to resort mostly to motorised transport.
What I did discover was that one of the spacer springs was missing off the rear skewer and whilst this shouldn’t cause an issue, I believe it may have led to my not quite perfect wheel placement resulting in some of my problem. The previously replaced 11 tooth gear did make a huge difference.
