Audax Theme

There’s been some cracking rides the past few weeks. In particular the FNQ 600 which provided entertainment for days for the 4 hardy souls who signed up. You can read more about that below. I attempted the Bedrock and maintained my 100% fail rate. Leonie Lucas tackled the BVRT and of course the Fassifern Folly happened and looked quite splendid. I’m sadly short of ride reports, but I heard folks had an awesome time.

Audax Australia Team Wear

Audax Australia is pleased to offer members the opportunity to purchase the New Audax Australia Team Wear.

The Winter Ordering window is now open and will close on the 2nd of June.

Audax Australia is offering members the following Team Wear:

  • Relaxed Fit Short-sleeve and Long-sleeve Jerseys
  • Thermal Jacket with Rear Pockets
  • Bib’n’Brace and Short Knicks
  • Reflective Vest
  • Arm Warmers
  • Knee Warmers
  • Cycling Cap

For what its worth the reflective vest is my favourite bit of cycling apparel, massive pockets, windproof at the front, open at the back so you don’t end up with heat exhaustion and most importantly can be seen from space.

Audax members refer to your email for details of how to access the shop.

Movie Review

Marinoni: The Fire In the Frame

Giuseppe Marinoni found his calling when he transitioned from champion cyclist to master bike craftsman. But after years hunched over toxic fumes, his passion almost killed him. Today, at age 75, Marinoni is back in top shape, and decided to attempt the world hour record for his age group, all on a bike he built with his own hands almost 40 years ago.

Inspirational.

Ride Reports

Leonie Lucas hits the BVRT again. It looks splendid and I really need to get out there and ride it myself.

There had been a definite buzz in the FNQ cycling air about the FNQ 600 for months. Listen closely and you could hear snippets of conversation about this big Audax challenge. Mostly the snippets contained words like “why” and “how far” and were punctuated with the obligatory F bombs.
