In 2004, to celebrate the 200,000 th homologation of a 200 km brevet, Peter was among 100 people around the world selected by ACP to receive a special award for their involvement in BRM (Brevets Randonneurs Mondiaux).
As a rider, Peter has completed multiple Paris-Brest-Paris 1200 km (1999 and 2003), Super Randonneur Series, Opperman All Day Trials and participated in many other rides including London-Edinburgh-London (2013). Peter has completed almost 35,000 Audax brevet km in over 180 rides.
Peter has organised many classic rides including the Opperman All Day Trial and the supported Gippsland/Grampians Gambol series. He is best known for turning his Gippsland Gambol series into the Last Gasp Gallic Qualifiers before Paris-Brest-Paris in 2007, 2011 and 2015 and the Grampians Gambol series in 2019. Many grateful riders have used these to gain the final qualification and go on to successfully complete PBP. Since 2001, over 400 participants in Peter’s rides have exceeded 150,000 Audax brevet km.

Peter Mathews, for 25 years of continuous service to the club, Audax Australia salutes you.
