2021 Updates to Policies and Rules

On 10 August 2021, the Audax Australia National Committee approved updates to four Policies and Rules.

The updates are primarily to improve clarity and consistency as well as minor updates resulting from changes to insurance in Dec 2020.

Audax Australia Ride Rules– Social Rides have been added. These have been occurring for over a decade but are now formalised to ensure insurance is properly considered.
– Added rule 4.4. This covers route design rules, some of which were previously endorsed. Please review as there are some impacts to ROs and Regions.
– In rule 4.9 the table has been replaced with one that more closely aligns with ACP and LRM. It provides more information and also is more concise.
– In rule 5, duplicate information and obsolete clauses have been removed as well as Flรจche and Petit Flรจche are now separated into two sections.
– In rule 5.11, RAID amendments include ‘gravel weekends’ (300km min mixed terrain distance) and ride in reverse
– Added rule 5.12 Social Rides.
– Rule 6.2 has been expanded to allow for appeals in the event a brevet was not homologated and the rider feels this is unjust.
Audax Australia Safety RulesThe ride-related safety rules have been consolidated into one document, comprising:
– lighting
– visibility
– extreme weather conditions, including heat and fire
Audax Australia Awards Policy– Clause 2 was added to cover ride medallions.
– Clause 8 was added to cover guidelines on medallions and trophies.
Audax Australia Ride Entry Terms and Conditions– Remove references to Temporary Membership
– Remove references to Cycling Australia
– Update references and links to Safety Rules and Ride Rules
– Update insurance wording to align with new insurers recommendations
