Audax runs rides throughout Australia and New Zealand from 50 to 1200km and these can be found in the Calendar. You can also ride a Permanent which is like a regular randonnee except that you're not restricted to an official calendar date or a Raid which is a set touring route that can be ridden at any time of your choosing.
Premier events... The AAC is run yearly on the Australia Day weekend in Bright, Victoria. From 70km to 200km of hard riding will test you over a fantastic weekend in the Victorian Alps.
Also known as the Oppy, this occurs yearly in the majority of the states. Choose your own route but you have to ride at least 360kms in 24 hours. The Victorian Oppy always finishes in Sir Hubert Opperman's birthplace. A new feature event for late November 2009.
Held every three years in Victoria and has rides from 300 to 1200km
The 1200km PAP is held every four years. The next PAP will be in spring 2010, during the wildflower season. This 4th edition will have a new 'loop route', heading down through the southwest and then returning through the southern wheatbelt.
Organised by the Audax Club Parisien, PBP is the pre-eminent 1200km randonnee and over a hundred Australians and New Zealanders participated in the event when last held in 2007. The next PBP will be in August 2011.
While not organised by an Audax or randonneuring club, Audax Australia will validate the Enduro version (two laps of Lake Taupo).
