The town of Bright is nestled amongst the mountains in the north east alpine region of Victoria. Every year on the Australia day weekend, the town transforms and becomes a cycling mecca as 2000+ riders and their supporters descend on the town.

How to get to Bright?


Bright is approximately 200km (as the crow flies) North-East of Melbourne, centered in the Victorian Alpine Region.

By Road

From Melbourne/VIC


Bright is about 220km or 2.5 hours drive from Melbourne. You leave the Hume Highway near Wangaratta and travel 76 km along the Ovens Highway to Bright.

From Sydney/NSW


Bright is about 600km or 8 hours drive from Sydney. Travellers approaching Bright from NSW can either continue down the Hume Highway to Wangaratta and join the Ovens Highway or come via the Kiewa Valley Highway from Albury.

From Adelaide/SA


Bright is about 940km or 11 hours drive from Adelaide. A popular route from Adelaide is via Tailem Bend, Pinaroo, Ouyen, Swan Hill, Echuca, Shepparton, Benalla to Wangaratta, then via the Ovens Highway to Bright.

By Train

By Bus


Interstate bus services that carry bikes operate to Wangaratta from all capital cities. Contact Greyhound on 132 030 or http://www.greyhound.com.au.

By Air


Melbourne is the nearest practical airport to Bright. There is an airport at Albury but is only serviced by small aircraft and bicycle carriage may be a problem.
